Heel spurs often cause extreme pain in the heel or foot. Heel spurs can interfere with your daily life by causing excruciating pain with every step. Read about how to eliminate heel spur pain naturally.
The pain that results from heel spurs is caused by the poking of a protrusion of the heel bone against the plantar fascia and/or surrounding tissues and nerves.
Heel spurs often cause pain in the heel, but pain can also occur in other parts of the foot. The pain can become extremely severe, and inflammation and bruising can also occur. Pain can be severe while taking a step or when puting weight on the heel. It may be particularly painful after long periods of rest, such as the first step after getting out of bed in the morning.
A heel spur is a growth on the heel bone (See Heel Spur Picture). The heel spur itself has no feeling. However,
the heel spur usually extends from the heel bone and rubs into
the tissues and nerves surrounding the bottom of the foot, often
times causing inflammation of the plantar fascia and/or other
tissues. Because the heel spur rubs into the tissues and nerves
of the foot, pain may occur and be quite severe.
You may notice that heel spur pain actually decreases
after walking. This is because the nerves adjust around the spur
as you move, which reduces the amount of pain. This is why pain
is usually most severe when you take your first steps after
periods of rest such as when you get out of bed in the morning.
